Churches Lead Walk for Peace
The Interfaith Coalition for Peace holds a Walk for Peace at 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday. The starting points for the walk are St. John's Unitarian Church in Clifton and Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church. In the end, walkers will meet at Burnet Woods to hear leaders of various faiths share their visions for a peaceful world. Help the Police Understand
Hoffner Park hosts a Community-Police Outreach Festival at 1-5 p.m. Saturday. The festival is part of an effort in each Cincinnati Police district to allow residents the opportunity to meet neighbors and interact with neighborhood officers (without being maced). The program includes free food, job opportunities, police demonstrations, music and games.

Make Your Roots Grow
The GrassRoots Leadership Academy is accepting registrations for training programs. An eight-week session of classes meets from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 10 through Nov. 5. An eight-month session meets from 9 a.m.-noon on alternate Saturdays beginning Sept. 14. The programs teach community leaders to take responsibility for their neighborhoods by participating in civic, social and economic issues. The program is free to residents of the city of Cincinnati. Collaborate to Help Youth
The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative seeks adults throughout the Tristate to serve as mentors or tutors for students in the Cincinnati Public Schools. EarthSave Discusses Natural Healing
EarthSave Cincinnati meets at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at St. John's Unitarian Church for potluck. The topic of the program is "Inside Natural Health: Alternative Medicine and Cancer." Dr. Christine Horner, M.D., medical editor of Inside Natural Health, speaks about complementary and alternative medicine. Take a vegetarian (preferably vegan) dish to share.

Get Your Democratic Check-Up
