Minister Addresses the Boycott
Inspired and challenged by CityBeat to become more active in resolving the issues raised by the civil rights boycott of Cincinnati, the Rev. Sharon Dittmar devotes her sermon Sunday to the boycott. Dittmar is the minister at First Unitarian Church in Avondale. The service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Remembering the Dead on Both Sides

Attention Liberated Stoners
A panel convenes at 11 a.m. May 11 at the Libertarian Party of Ohio's state convention to discuss ending the war on drugs. Speakers include John Hartman of the Ohio Cannabis Society, who has been active in seeking drug law reform for 12 years; and Sterling Albury, who founded the Ohio Marijuana Party. Other panel members include representatives of the Ohio Patients Network, a group seeking approval for medical marijuana; and the Marijuana Policy Project, a nationwide organization opposing the war on drugs. The conference examines the effect of gun violence, drugs, street crimes, police brutality, the prison industrial complex and other social problems. The Cincinnati Women's Political Caucus presents its 18th annual Outstanding Achievement Awards next month. This year the group honors Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Cheryl Grant, Cincinnati School Board member Harriet Russell and Women Helping Women.
