· Mink -- Full Rock Power (minkband.com)
From Nashville, Tenn. The album title says it all to me, but you can't beat Mink when it comes to the epitome of what the Chicks RockFest was created for (although those suckers thought California would be more fun than freezing temps in Ohio in January). Sexy, fun and it will rock your freakin' socks off!
· L.P. -- Heart-Shaped Scar (lprock.com)
From New York. There is nothing fake or uninteresting about L.P.'s voice or music style. Introduced to me by the fabulous Susan Vitello by shaming everyone who did not see their performance at York St. It was a very appropriate scolding.
· Rainy Day Crush -- Free To Go (rainydaycrush.com)
From Savage, Minn. Absolutely open and diverse. Free To Go is more like listening to a story ... and a well-recorded story at that! They will be performing at the Chicks RockFest on Saturday at The Cavern on the Sam Ash stage. I had the privilege of seeing them at Midpoint and, please know, I speak the truth that your life will be less entertaining by missing their performance.
· Breech -- Apron Strings (breech.net)
From Los Angeles. Featuring Missy of Nellie Bly (which is also hard to get out my CD player), Breech performs at the BarrelHouse for Chicks RockFest on Saturday night. Missy has such a smoky, sexy voice and her lyrics are one in a million. (I mean that in a good and interesting way.)
· The Honeys -- Hot Day in Heaven
From Columbus, Ohio. RAWWWWWWWK! The Honeys are proudly sponsored by the '80s guitars that changed the whole idea of the guitar as an instrument in the first place. You can't help but listen to this album with a mucho grande grin on your face. The Honeys will be performing on Friday at The Cavern on the Sam Ash stage.
