Taking a Flier
Airport employers import foreign workers to fill jobs
Jobs. Lately they seem scarce, particularly the good ones. Especially for young people. This summer has been the roughest in some time for teenagers and twentysomethings. Both U.S. News & World Report and Time magazine ran stories bemoaning the employment outlook for college and high school students. Corporate internships are fewer, and older workers downsized from large companies end up competing with students for less glamorous jobs like waiting tables, lifeguarding and parking cars.
