Learn how to be an effective nonviolent warrior through a program May 28-29 at the Peaslee Neighborhood Center. Activists often turn to nonviolent agitation when all other channels of social change seem blocked, but many don´t achieve the full value of the action because it´s not connected to a strategy or to a richer understanding of how nonviolent action works. High Performance Schools

A town hall forum on ¨High Performance Schools´ discusses how the Cincinnati Public Schools can optimize the health and sustainability of its new school buildings. The free forum takes places 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Mayerson Academy Banquet Hall. Dan Hurley, who hosts Newsmakers (WKRC, Channel 12), moderates a panel that includes local school officials, construction experts and Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune. Enhance Safety, Preserve Rights

¨Ashcroft´ policing, through which the public sacrifices constitutional rights for safety, simply doesn´t work. So says David Harris, author of Good Cops: The Case for Preventative Policing. Beer and Justice

Drinking Liberally, an informal, an inclusive Democratic drinking club, meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays. You don´t have to be a policy expert and this isn´t a book club; just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it´s not taboo to talk politics.
