These days, if you go to Quatman's Café in Norwood, you're not as likely to see its owner Albert Imms as you might have been in 1966 when he bought the place. A back injury keeps 66-year-old Imms working behind the scenes most of the time while his son manages the no-frills restaurant, which has been offering basic but satisfying bar food for more than 40 years. Albert still gets there when he can, and he's made sure that patrons who believe Quatman's is the source of the best burger in town won't be disappointed.

CityBeat: What's the last great meal you ate and where did you eat it?

Albert Imms: About a month ago I went to Camp Washington Chili. I had a four-way, two cheese coneys and a Pepsi.

CB: I've heard people say that Quatman's serves the best burger in town. What would you say makes the perfect burger?

AI: It's usually between me, they say, and Zip's in Mount Lookout Square. I've never been there, no. Sorry, no, I can't give you a good reason why. We got a good supplier for the beef. Really good meat. (Pause.) Do you need to know who it is? Because everyone will go there.
