As the galleries at the University of Cincinnati have faced imposed budget restraints, curator Evan Commander — with the help of Ryan Mulligan, Annie Schorgl and Sarah Blyth-Stephens — conceived No Gallery Left Behind, Reed Gallery’s current exhibition in which the conventional and costly modes of creating and presenting art are questioned and new solutions are explored. Essentially, the works of art in the exhibition are the result of instructions sent to the gallery by local and nationally reputed artists and executed in the space by the gallery staff and UC students. Some of the ideas and instructions are included in a stapled packet, but most of the creative process is mysterious and undisclosed. The brains behind the exhibition offer the most present, elegant solutions. “Making Space,” a collaborative installation by Commander and Blyth-Stephens, is a fragile but exceptionally present wok composed of pierced sheets of aluminum foil hung overlapping in a small room and softly lit. Before closing on Friday, the exhibition will host Jen Delos Reyes, who will be giving a “via satellite” artist talk on the history of social practice at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
