Here’s one last chance to see one of the summer’s most entertaining productions — and support a worthy cause. Cincinnati Landmark Productions (whose co-founders, Tim and Jennifer Perrino and Denny Reed have been selected by the League of Cincinnati Theatres for their 2009 Continuing Achievement Award) presented The Musical of Musicals back in July on the Showboat Majestic and sold most of the tickets. They know a hit when they see it, so they’ve brought it back for one last hurrah to support the Rising Star Awards of the Acclaims, recognizing young theater artists under the age of 25 as they launch their careers.

The Musical of Musicals is a clever piece of theater that takes one tried-and-true melodramatic story and retells it five different ways — in the musical styles of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Kander and Ebb and Andrew Lloyd Webber. If you love musicals, you’ll be laughing from start to finish — and if you’re lukewarm about musicals, you’ll find yourself amused by the satire of how silly they can be. Either way, it’s a great evening of entertainment at a time in the summer when there’s precious little to enjoy onstage. It’s happening at Below Zero Lounge in Over-the-Rhine; doors open at 6 p.m., the performance is at 7 p.m. $10 (with a two-drink minimum).
