Foxy
Shazam, one of Cincinnati’s hardest-touring bands, isn’t going to get
less busy anytime soon. It was recently announced that the eccentric
keys-driven quintet — which imaginatively crafts a maniacal,
kaleidoscopic brand of Metal/Punk/Rock/Pop fusion and puts on one of
the wildest live shows you’ll ever see — has signed with legendary
label Sire Records. (Fun local-connection fact: Sire Records’ founder
Seymour Stein got his start as a staffer for pioneering Cincy label
King Records.)
Foxy Shazam is up for the Cincinnati Entertainment Award for “Best Musical Ambassador for the City” this year thanks to the group’s insane touring schedule. They won the “Best Live Act” CEA in 2008.
The follow-up to Foxy’s well-received national debut, Introducing (released by respected indie label Ferret Music early last year), is receiving its finishing touches and is scheduled for an early 2010 release. In the meantime, Foxy’s current extensive tour with Swedish new wavers The Sounds brings the group back home Tuesday for a show at Covington’s Madison Theater. Tickets are $15 advance, $17 day of show.
