When the thermometer hovers in the mid-’90s for nearly a week straight, you might expect to find the CEO of one of Cincinnati’s oldest brewing names escaping the heat by cooling off with a frosty beer at the oldest continually operated bar in the city.
You might not expect him to be engaged in a Bobby Flay-esque
meatball throw-down with the owner, however. But when the CEO is
Christian Moerlein’s Greg Hardman and the restaurant is Arnold’s, let’s
just say you can expect the unexpected.
(Diana Day)
CityBeat: What was the
last great meal you ate and where did you have it?
Greg Hardman: It was Friday night
at Arnold’s Bar and Grill. I had the homemade meatball sandwich, and I
believe it to be the best in town.
CB: Do you ever play
with your food?
GH: (Laughing) You might say that!
(Arnold’s) owner Ronda Androski and I have an ongoing competition to
see who can make the best meatball. We’ve battled it out many times but,
try as I might, I have yet to win a single contest!
