Marty Weldishofer and his wife, Kate, are approaching the
one-year anniversary of the opening of their wine and beer shop Marty’s
Hops and Vines (6110 Hamilton Ave., College Hill, 513-681-4222). They
have over 200 domestic and imported selections in their wine
department, a big selection of craft beers and a nice gift shop.
They’re not just a retail store, though. There’s also a cozy bar area
with live acoustic music, and a nice menu of small plates to accompany
your beverage choice.
CityBeat: What’s the last great meal you ate and where did you eat it?
Marty Weldishofer: Brunch at The Comet in
Northside! I had an absolutely awesome Eggs Benedict, and what made it
even better was an excellent Bloody Mary.
CB: How’s the dining scene doing in College Hill?
MW: Fantastic.
I love it. We’ve got an incredible
coffee shop — College Hill Coffee — and great dinners at Bacall’s,
Chung Ching and Goodies. People start with a glass of wine or a beer at
my shop and then they bounce around between the eateries here. We ought
to have a progressive dinner!
