Most people are familiar with Summerfair, the huge art fair at Coney Island that happens each June. But not everyone knows that annual event supports area artists and arts organizations. Each year, proceeds from Summerfair provide grants to individual artists living within a 40-mile radius of Cincinnati. You can see the wonderful fruits of this grant program right now in Summerfair Select, an exhibition that features grant recipients from the past three years.
The show highlights a variety of work by some of the area’s most accomplished artists: photographs by Matthew Albritton; ceramics by Lisa Conner, Patrick Dougherty and Casey Riordan Millard; hand-cut paper by Kristine Donnelly; and paintings by Cole Carothers, Kim Flora, Jason Franz, Marc Leone, Kevin Muente and Jonathan Queen.
The Thomas J. Funke Gallery at Funke Fired Arts (3130 Wasson Road, Hyde Park) hosts the tri-annual exhibition through Nov. 26. The gallery is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
