Being a vegetarian in Porkopolis can be a real challenge. It’s a meat eater’s world. But there’s a new resource that can help: CincyVeg.com is a collaborative labor of love assembled by area vegetarians to be a hub for local vegetarian, animal welfare and green living communities.
“We all wanted a place where everybody could come together, learn and engage,” says Brook Westheimer, who also founded the Web site design firm Watercourse Technology, designed and manages the Web site and founded the project with CityBeat contributing writer Liz Wu.
The site includes articles on vegan events and stories about the raw food movement (which is exactly what it sounds like; recipes that don’t use heat) as well as pieces on local environmental activism and recipes.
“We also have a directory for vegetarian-friendly places around town,” Westheimer says.
Check out CincyVeg.com online or attend their launch party at 6-9 p.m. Jan. 14. Free. Park Vine, 1202 Main St., Over-the-Rhine, 513-721-7275.
