A peaceful autumn hayride though a cornfield is not only shattered by creatures “stalking” the rows of corn but by no less than three flame-belching vehicles determined to run the fragile wagon off the path. Deep in the woods, there are backwoodsmen with ear-shattering shotguns and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The dark barn at the end of the tour is an appropriate climax — new are the Hostel room and a zombie room (with an impressive wagon assault by the undead). Still, Evil Santa steals the show, cackling wildly and screeching out terrible yet funny puns like “Have a Merry aX-Mas!” And if you think October is too early for a snowstorm … think again.

Farmer’s Revenge is a new walk-through attraction located inside two large barns.

It’s a combination of a dark maze, traditional haunt and funhouse with still displays and live actors. Infested with snakes and spiders; it also features an excellent Vortex tunnel and assorted mechanical surprises. The highlight is the Exorcist room with thrashing furniture and a head-spinning Regan MacNeil.

The regular event (Fridays and Saturdays) will provide enough chills for adults without being overwhelming for children; the new daytime Sunday event is a perfect venue for families looking for mild Halloween fun. (RS)

The Wait: Lines for the hayride can be 20 minutes to more than an hour. The ride lasts 25 minutes. Farmer’s Revenge averages about a 15 minute wait and runs about 10-15 minutes.
