Comedian Neal Brennan is probably best known as the
co-creator of Chappelle’s Show.
“That’s what will probably be in my obituary,” he says. Not like that’s the
worst thing they could say about a guy. “No, no, no,” he agrees. “I have come
to grips with the fact that I may never top it. But I’m a pretty good stand-up
so hopefully I’ll be known for that as well.” Though he still dabbles in TV and
film, his main focus is stand-up. “At a stand-up comedy show you’ll laugh two hundred
times,” he says. “Fifty, if you have a rough sense of humor. What movie have
you laughed at that much?” Delivering that amount of humor isn’t easy, but
Brennan rises to the challenge every day. “I’m at the whim of my own ideas,” he
says. “Comedy is the only profession where you wake up and say, ‘I have no idea
whether I’m going to be able to do this today.’ ” Neal Brennan performs at Go Bananas
in Montgomery Thursday through Sunday.
Showtime is 8 p.m., plus a 10:30 p.m.
showing Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $8-$14. 513-984-9288.
