If you think energetic horn sections went out with the Ska explosion a few years back, think again.
Columbus based six-piece Fenster
inject their soulful, groovy sound with enough horny augmentation to make James Brown feel really
good. While somewhat funky, the band is quite a bit more stylized than your average Funk band, using the groove to carry the song along instead of carrying the tune completely on the rhythm's shoulders. The band, who debuted with a self-titled release in 1999 (earning rave press in the region), are currently supporting 2000's Causing Problems
EP, which showcases an endearing playfulness, crafty vocals and a musical diversity (think Rocket From the Crypt trying to play R&B) that can only be better in a live setting.
