Ancient Harmony

With a sound that mixes improvisational trippiness with Southern and Roots Rock tendencies, the Albany, Ga.-based quartet
Ancient Harmony should please fans of "jam"-minded acts Widespread Panic and grandaddies the Grateful Dead.
The group formed in the mid-'90s and since then they've progressively built a following in Georgia and regionally. The group is currently in the midst of spreading their soulful sound nationwide, embarking on a relentless touring schedule. The band's most recent CD is
Live at the Warehouse, which contains a mere five tracks but runs well over an hour thanks to the band's ability to stretch out a song like copper wire with their deft, groove-centric improv chops. For more on the band, check their Web site at

On Saturday at Stanley's Pub.
