When staff writers leave CityBeat they have, in the past, had an opportunity to publish a “so long” piece. It’s usually done as a column or a first-person commentary. My last piece for CityBeat will be a review of a new book that looks at the current U.S. slave market.

Human trafficking is a topic of little consequence to many people and that’s allowing it to grow, virtually unchecked, and robbing millions of their freedom. I hope you get a chance to read the article about The Slave Next Door by Kevin Bales and Ron Soodalter. The article will appear May 27.

Thank you for all of your interest, leads and comments over the past five years.

Margo, Wherever you go, I hope we continue to get your take on the world.

Lately, when I read that someone from that other newspaper is leaving-- I like to leave the comment “Don’t let the door hit you in the…on the way out.” However, I think City Beat is a fine paper. I’ve enjoyed reading your columns. You write great human pieces. You write about solutions. I hope wherever your journey takes you-- that it is one of fulfillment. Peace, Franki Butler-Kidd (CAJD)
