The Art of Sound: Four Centuries of Musical Instruments

Combing the powers of all things creative, the Cincinnati Art Museum features The Art of Sound, an exhibition of more than 100 worldly instruments that are as wonderful to hear as they are to look at. Spanning five continents and four centuries, this exhibition celebrates the impeccable craftsmanship of musical instruments, whether it is in the exquisite inlay work, the beautifully painted designs, or the detailed carvings. The Art of Sound will include musical instruments from the Cincinnati Art Museum's permanent collection that has been growing since 1888.

Permanent displays include collections of art, sculpture and artifacts from various periods and cultures from the past 5,000 years. The Cincinnati Wing features influential local and regional artists. Traveling and changing exhibitions are popular attractions and often require a separate entrance fee. Otherwise, museum admission is free.
