Making Bush and Cheney Pay

By John Fox

As the Bushes clear out of the White House and the Obamas move in, it's easy to get caught up in the euphoria of a new era dawning. But if President Obama truly wants to bring about real change in America, as he's long promised, he needs to address the helplessness so many of us feel about our lives and the world around us. Applying the nation's laws to everyone (including CEOs, investment bankers and ex-presidents and vice presidents) would be a good start.

As the Age of Barack Obama begins Tuesday with his inauguration as our 44th president, Ohio finds itself tilting at windmills in its quest to reach for the kind of energy-efficient, sustainable, economically healthy future that he believes will get the country out of its calamitous recession. Obama is a father figure, a responsible boyfriend and a cool doctor all rolled into one

    By Maija Zummo

I don't need to be the one to tell you that it's been a pretty rough week for a lot of people. This whole "getting a candidate we actually wanted and voted for" elected as the next president of the United States has left millions upon millions of us — except the rich assholes who voted for John McCain — without things to complain about.

    Old Dogs, New Tricks

    By John Fox

You know the old saying about dogs that chase cars: What are they going to do with the car if they ever catch it? Last week Barack Obama caught a car. Hell, he caught every car in the country at the same time. By extension, all of us who supported Obama in his presidential bid caught a piece of the car, too.

Coming into 2008, my priority as CityBeat editor was implementing our “refreshment” project, with new features, an updated cover look, section fronts that made our opinion columns more prominent and a redesigned Web site. Goodbye and Good Riddance

    By Kevin Osborne

Really, he's not as bad as you think. As if they could possibly pull the wool over a jaded publics eyes one more time, many of George W. Bush's advisers and friends have been in full spin mode the past few weeks trying to convince us that his presidency wasn't nearly as disastrous as most think.

Then I thought of a quote Barack Obama said to his daughters during his victory speech: "You have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House." That's it! Take one of mine.

Inauguration Day is finally upon us, fittingly coming at the end of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Welcome to the 'Official Unofficial Barack Obama Mixtape'

    By Kevin Britton

I'm working on the mixtape of a lifetime. This is not, of course, a mixtape in the traditional Hip Hop sense, replete with recycled beats, guest appearances and endless self-aggrandizing promotional drops. My mix is a personal collection of tracks that I've chosen to capture the range of emotions I experienced as Barack Obama became our 44th President of the United States.
