Fifteen years ago, the first Cincinnati Entertainment Awards ceremony was held at the long-defunct Over-the-Rhine nightclub Sycamore Gardens. The mission of the CEAs was intact from the start — spotlight Greater Cincinnati’s original music scene, engage our readers via public voting for nominees and put together a fun shindig/ceremony that people will talk about until ... at least the next year’s event.  ...

A good party needs good music and the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards ceremony has annually featured some of the best music being made in Greater Cincinnati. This year's show at the Madison Theater on Nov. 20 will be no exception. Performers for this year's CEAs will include Wussy, Pomegranates and New Artist of the Year nominees Two Headed Dog (pictured), with more to be added (we'll keep you posted). The nominations have been selected, and now it’s up to you to choose who should win trophies at this year’s Cincinnati Entertainment Awards (CEAs). Back for the 15th year, the CEAs are decided by public voting (save the Critical Achievement Awards, which are chosen by the nominating committee) and the awards will be given out Sunday, Nov. 20. ...

On Nov. 21 at Covington's Madison Theater, Cincinnati Entertainment Awards were presented in 19 categories. An even mix of previous CEA victors (Freekbass, Dallas Moore Band, Ricky Nye) and first-time nominees (I Am the Messenger, Mad Anthony, Pop Empire), winners received the trademark CEA "trophy," a groovy hand-painted faux-"Gold Record" plaque. ...
