Cut Copy’s move from Australian Electro-Dance upstarts to internationally recognized, festival-headlining purveyors of sophisticated Art Pop is complete. The foursome — led by frontman and founder Dan Whitford — has released three albums since 2004, including the recent Zonoscope, another addictive, synth-driven effort that also finds the band moving in new, less party-starting directions. They perform Saturday night at the MidPoint Music Festival.

The full schedule of performances (from an eclectic assemblage of artists that includes Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Booker T. Jones, rising Australian Indie Dance champs Cut Copy and clever Pop duo Mates of State) has been released. Many of the popular features from recent MPMFs are returning Sept. 22-24, but there are plenty of brand new ones being introduced, all designed to make the MidPoint experience even better.  

The MidPoint Music Festival has announced the first performer confirmations for the 10th edition of the downtown festival happening Sept. 22-24, 2011. Artist highlights will include Cut Copy from Australia, Austin-based Okkervil River, UK rockers The Joy Formidable, Rolling Stone guitar god Kaki King, The Felice Brothers, The Album Leaf, Gang Gang Dance, Those Darlins, The Low Anthem and Jessica Lea Mayfield.  

The initial 20 national artists booked for this September’s MidPoint Music Festival (coming Sept. 22-24 to various venues in Downtown and Over-the-Rhine) were recently announced and they show the fest is already off to a great start. This year’s event will feature Cut Copy, Deerhoof, Kaki King, Xiu Xiu and more.
