Chances are the Walt Disney Company is counting their blessings that they didn't part ways with Pixar after making 'Cars.' The computer animation juggernaut — and arguably a Disney savior — has again proved who wears the pants in the relationship.  

Cliched and perceptive in equal measure, writer/director Jonathan Levine's entertaining, occasionally affecting coming-of-age drama waxes nostalgic for ... the summer of 1994?  

One reason it's become so hard for new musicians to make an impact is because so many old ones — including deceased ones — are still being discovered (or rediscovered), thanks to the proselytizing efforts of those who somehow got turned on to their obscure work the first time around.
