Steven Soderbergh, despite threats of an early retirement, continues his relentless pace with the entertaining, sneakily incisive Magic Mike, the 49-year-old director’s 11th effort since 2004 and his third in less than a year following the effective thrillers Contagion and Haywire. (By comparison, his buddy David Fincher has made nine movies since 1992.)   

The Social Network is not the unvarnished true story of Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of Facebook. But it seems as if one of Zuckerberg's friends should have posted that on his little social network because he sure is acting like people might think it is. This film is stirring up the social media world. Grade: A-  

I'll skip the diatribe about how the year in movies has been so far. It sucks. Let's look forward. The second half of the year brings everything from film festival favorites and art house Oscar bait to documentaries and big-budget blockbusters.
