You Are My Superhero, opening Sunday at Dayton Art Institute (DAI), is here to rescue art lovers from the summer blahs. The difference starts at the door, where there’s $2 off for wearing a superhero costume.  

'Modern Masters from the Smithsonian American Art Museum' showcases revolutionary Abstract Expressionists' work that caused a sea change in the way the western world came to view art. The exhibition also includes works created in response to this mid-20th-century American movement's initial impact. On display at the Dayton Art Institute through Oct. 10.  

In what could easily have become an exhibition larded with cuteness, the Dayton Art Institute presents childhood as interpreted by American artists from the 17th through 20th centuries.
