One of Kry Kids’ live trademarks is a structural complexity that finds everyone but Donaldson moving constantly between instruments and roles. Like a well-choreographed but also intuitive ballet, the switch-ups are planned and practiced but come across graceful and natural enough to not be a momentum killer.  

This week, Joe Hedges, frontman for July for Kings, will be celebrating the release of his new solo album, Alchemy, with a unique release show. Friday's event is a multimedia extravaganza timed to downtown's "Final Friday" art gallery walk and taking place at the St. Theresa Textile Trove space.  

April 17 is Record Store Day, so be sure to support your local independent music retailers. If you're a fan of local Electro/Indie/Folk/Pop wonders The Seedy Seeds, you'll definitely want to stop by Shake It Records in Northside, where they'll close out the store's Record Store Day with a performance at 9 p.m. You can also pick up a copy of The Seedys' new three-song, 7-inch vinyl release being issued by Shake It's label division.  

If you're a fan of hypermelodic Pop/Rock and you haven't heard or seen local group The Newbees, what are you waiting for? The perfect chance to check the band out comes this weekend with the release of a gorgeous CD/DVD package, 'Live @ The Southgate House.' Ironically, the band will be playing its release party Friday at York Street Cafe.

An attempt to spotlight the next crop of local music wavemakers, the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards-sponsored event has hosted scores of eventual big-shots in past years. This year features acts nominated for the 2009 CEA "New Artist of the Year."
