Dear Maija, A couple of my bros got a hold of a state-used ID printing machine and are about to make mass money selling fakes to other kids at UC. Would you judge me if I got my Cancun money doing this?  

Considering the last 40 years of the gay rights movement is complicated. American society has come a long way, as evidenced by the numerous states that recognize gay marriage, the increasing protections gays have secured through legislation and the increasing success of reality TV shows about designers. (Thanks for the exposure, capitalism!)  

Bailouts, cash infusions and unemployment lines. These are scary words for scary times, and scary times call for … comfort food. We’ve just been through a season of belt-tightening and the new year looks like we might need to take it in another notch, but I had an epiphany over a plate of potato gnocchi and veal and ricotta meatballs.  

Though the year in sports produced its fair share of memories, no sporting memory will obscure the hard reality of economic gloom coursing through the world in a tense 2008.
