It’s got to if we want to preserve any semblance of a functioning democracy in our nation. “It” is overturning the U.S. Supreme Court’s dreadful Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling. The decision undid nearly a century’s worth of campaign finance regulation in the United States.   

The Social Network is not the unvarnished true story of Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of Facebook. But it seems as if one of Zuckerberg's friends should have posted that on his little social network because he sure is acting like people might think it is. This film is stirring up the social media world. Grade: A-  

As someone who has taken part in the local Tea Parties, I would like to respond to Kevin Osborne’s criticisms of the “angry white conservatives” who take part in these events (“Smearing Socialism,” issue of May 6). I might be the wrong man to do so, however, since I’m a Libertarian.   

I read Larry Gross' Living Out Loud columns all the time, and he's probably a nice enough guy but maybe a little foolish. In his column "Hump Day" he was approached by three panhandlers in only a short period of time. The only one who was totally honest was the man who demanded that he give him money for a pack of cigarettes.  

Two local middle school students won a UC-sponsored stock market game for kids last week by investing their fake $100,000 in Under Armour athletic apparel. When asked if they would consider investing their fake money in any other companies, the students said they'd consider gasoline futures but that diversifying is for dorks.  

When there's no organized opposition to a constitutional amendment being placed on the statewide ballot - as is the case with Issue 2, which would continue the Clean Ohio program - the Ohio Ballot Board comes up with the reason to vote no. That's the law.
