The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has once again been nominated for a Grammy.
Music director/conductor Louis Langrée and the CSO scored a Best Orchestral Performance nomination this morning for their Transatlantic album.
The album, which was released this summer, features works by George Gershwin, Edgard Varèse and Igor Stravinsky. The CSO's version of Gershwin’s "An American in Paris" was the world premiere of the piece's so-called "critical edition."
"We are honored again to be the first orchestra to record this work the way Gershwin intended,” Langrée said in a press release for Transatlantic about the "Paris" performance.
The CSO is no stranger to the Grammys, regularly scoring nominations in the Classical music categories. In 2018, Langrée and the CSO were up for Best Orchestral Performance and Best Contemporary Classical Composition for their work on the album Concertos for Orchestra.
The 62nd Grammy Award winners will be announced Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020.
