Gano Alley ready for Pride

Downtown's 21c Museum Hotel is inviting everyone to "party with the yellow penguins" during its Pride Block Party in Gano Alley.

From 4-8 p.m. June 26, this event — "inspired by St. James Joy socially distanced disco block parties in Brooklyn this last year," per a release — features family-friendly activities including face painting, sidewalk chalk drawing and bubbles (with a side of booze-free slushies).

Chef Vanessa Miller of Metropole and her staff will also be out grilling burgers, brats and hot dogs.

Need a drink? There will be White Claw floats and craft beer.

DJs will be spinning tunes, and guests will have a chance to win raffle prizes.

Although the event is free (you can RSVP at eventbrite.com), a portion of proceeds will benefit Transform Cincy, a nonprofit and clothing closet that provides a free wardrobe to trans teens to match their gender identity, plus styling services.

Bring cash to the party, which is hosted in conjunction with neighboring restaurants and bar Nicholson's. Wearing a mask is encouraged but not required, and hand sanitizer will be available.

Later in the evening, the party continues at both the Metropole and up on the Cocktail Terrace, where they'll be serving their Pride cocktail "Red Leather, Yellow Leather," featuring strawberry-rhubarb syrup, sherry, cardamom bitters, prosecco, lemon and Nonino Amaro. One dollar from every sale of the drink this June will benefit Transform Cincy.

21c Museum Hotel is located at 609 Walnut St., Downtown. Get event details at 21cmuseumhotels.com.
