Big Comedy Weekend on Tap

Brew Ha-Ha, Kathy Griffin headline big weekend for laughs

If you like to laugh, you'll be able to find lots of stand-up comedy this weekend — on a big stage, in a small club and in the great outdoors served with beer.

The third annual Cincinnati Brew Ha-Ha takes over Sawyer Point Friday and Saturday, with 50 comedians on three stages and more than 50 brands of beer available for sampling. Headliners are Jimmie J.J. Walker Friday and Victoria Jackson Saturday (pictured), performing for free; tasting tickets are required for the beer sampling. Get the lowdown here.

Kathy Griffin, who's made quite a career of celebrating and mocking Hollywood's "D-List," plays Riverbend Friday night. Her profile is even higher now after a throwdown on Comedy Central's recent roast of Joan Rivers and her appearance at the Teen Choice Awards with Levi Johnston, 19-year-old father of Sarah Palin's grandson.

And then there's Cowboy Bill Martin, who's performing at Funny Bone on the Levee Thursday through Sunday. Going through a divorce while he was working in advertising, he wrote a survival guide for men in the same position that led him to try stand-up. He says he started telling jokes to save his life ... literally.

P.F. Wilson has more on Martin here.

Wait, there's even more: Doug Benson, a finalist in this season's Last Comic Standing, is performing at Go Bananas Thursday-Sunday (details here), and Shadowbox Cabaret offers Best of Shadowbox Thursday-Saturday (details here).
