Why does a snow plow need a name? Why not?

Ever feel like naming oversized vehicles should be practiced more places than just at monster truck rallies? Well, fans of puns, plows and snow-free streets will rejoice at the city of Blue Ash's current contest.

The Blue Ash Public Works Department is once again hosting a poll to name its 2018 International 7500 Tandem Axle dump truck, which is also equipped with a plow in the winter.

Why does a snow plow need a name? Why not?

“This contest has been a fun way to create engagement between the community and the Department,” Public Works Director Gordon Perry said in a press release last year. “It has been a pleasure to see all of the creative entries. We had a tough time narrowing them down.”

Voting is being conducted online at blueash.com through Friday, April 14. You can also email your suggestions to [email protected] or drop your name in the Name A Snow Plow box at the Municipal and Safety Center (4343 Cooper Road).

Public Works employees will then narrow the submissions down to five options you can vote on during the week of April 24. The winner will be announced May 1, and whoever submitted the name wins a prize.

The winning name will then be displayed on the plow and unveiled during the 2023 Public Works Week Touch-A-Truck event at Summit Park.

Public Works said Michelle Sikes won the contest last year with the name “CTRL-SALT-DELETE.”
