Burritofest, a music festival at Northside bar The Comet, "intends to give patrons a little bit of several different ingredients... much like the burrito itself," according to a release.
On May 13 and 14, local bands and comedians spanning a variety of genres will take the stage both inside the bar and outside in the grotto. Promising "a nonstop musical experience unlike any other in town," this pay-what-you-can show will give each band or individual the stage for 30 minutes.
According to the promo flyer, the lineup for May 13 will feature:
- The Bellowing Pines
- Sundae Drives
- Moon Cruiser
- Sarah Gorak
- Annabelle Kitsune
- Harry Slime
- Maria Keck
- Nick Fed
- Star Silk
- Willie and the Cigs
The lineup for May 14 will feature:
- Ball of Light
- Gray Dodd
- KAE Savage
- Prayer Line
- Ratta Ka Kat
- John Hays
- The Tangees
- and a comedy showcase featuring Ron Ervin, Luke Fegenbush and Jon Holmes
All money collected will go to the bands and performers.
In terms of the namesake burritos — which The Comet is known for — Burritofest creator and director Tim Miller tells CityBeat via email: "There will be two special salsas and a special burrito created by The Comet's kitchen for that weekend only."
Burritofest takes place 6 p.m.-midnight on May 13 and 5 p.m.-midnight on May 14 at The Comet, 4579 Hamilton Ave., Northside. More info: facebook.com.
