Ingri Fiksdal: STATE

What happens when an internationally renowned contemporary Norwegian choreographer (Ingri Fiksdal) and an award-winning Danish director (Jonas Corell Petersen) collaborate with an avant-fashion designer (Henrik Vibskov) and an experimental noise artist (Lasse Marhaug)? STATE.

This immersive performance art piece uses five dancers and two musicians to examine the role that ritual dances have played in the creation and preservation of the state. Marvel and ponder as the choreography, design and sonics build upon each other before an ultimate crescendo.

This will be Fiksdal’s first return to the CAC since 2015’s Night Tripper.

Fair warning, this performance features moments of powerfully pounding percussion, flashing lights and a smoke machine.

8 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 21)  and Friday (Feb. 22). $15; $10 members. Contemporary Arts Center, 44 E. Sixth St., Downtown, contemporaryartscenter.org.
