The Cincinnati Pride Parade and Festival takes place this Saturday, and two local art institutions are hosting themed pre-parties this final Friday in preparation.
Art After Dark brings drinks, DJs and dancing to the Cincinnati Art Museum the last Friday of the month. From 5-9 p.m. June 24, the museum is celebrating Pride with a "Born This Way"-themed party. Local drag queen Phaedra will be performing, with additional music from DJ Mowgli. Take a free stroll through the galleries or join a docent-led tour of current exhibits, like Henry Mosler Behind the Scenes: In Celebration of the Jewish Cincinnati Bicentennial. Food and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
The Cincinnati Art Museum is located at 953 Eden Park Drive, Mount Adams. More info: cincinnatiartmuseum.org.
The Contemporary Arts Center is also hosting a Pride party 7-11 p.m. June 24 as part of its final Friday "Subterranean" series. Held in the downstairs Black Box performance space, this month's event features a drag show — with Stixen Stones, Kiara Chimera, Chastity Maries, Jessica Marie Jones, Mirelle Jane Divine and Flora Delis — and "high-energy drag party" hosted by Northside bar Good Judy's. DJs Boywife and Hershe B will be spinning tunes.
This event is ticketed and costs $20.
The Contemporary Arts Center is located at 44 E. Sixth St., Downtown. More info: contemporaryartscenter.org.
