Over-the-Rhine cocktail bar Lost & Found and Black and queer femme-led music collaborative Warmth Culture are teaming up for a special Juneteenth celebration honoring local talent in under-represented communities.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is celebrated every year on June 19. On that day, Lost & Found and Warmth Culture will host a one-night-only event, the Free Peoples Party ‘A Black House Experience,’ from 8 p.m. to midnight. The event is meant to showcase local talent, prioritizing POC, LGBTQIA+, women and creatives who may face challenges like racism, misogyny and creative exploitation when it comes to performing in public spaces or venues.

“Partnering with Warmth Culture was a clear choice for this event because of their commitment to creating safe spaces for artistic expression and joy,” Lost & Found co-founder Steven Clement said in a press release. “Warmth Culture represents exactly what it says, a warm and welcoming environment for experiencing culture from non-white perspectives.”

Organizers say the Free Peoples Party also aims to be a refuge for folks of all backgrounds in search of a safe and inclusive space to be themselves.

Music will largely focus on R&B and hip hop, as well as house – a genre of dance music that stems from Black communities in Chicago and New York and influenced Black music, culture, technology and sociopolitical and cultural movements, says the bar. Featured DJs include Rah D, Jesse James and Bryston Bryant.

In addition to house music, organizers want the event to offer a platform to speakers to share their knowledge and experience related to the genre and its impact on Black communities.

Pata Roja will also be at the event with their tacos and other bites available for purchase.

Tickets to the Free Peoples Party are $10 and can be bought here.
