Well, Cincinnati, you're not the best place to live in the United States, according to some media outlets. But you're sure as hell not that bad, either.

U.S. News & World Report published its 150 Best Places to Live in the U.S. 2021-2022 list earlier this week, and Cincinnati comes in at a respectable No. 44. The report, which U.S. News publishes annually, ranks 150 metro areas based on value, desirability, job market and quality of life.

On a 10-point scale, U.S. News gives Cincinnati a 6.7 overall. The city's highest category — value — comes in at 8.0. The job market gets a 6.9, while quality of life nabs 6.6. The Queen City's lowest category, desirability, only nets a 5.6.

But in the news outlet's other research, Cincinnati ranks as the top place to live in Ohio, as well as the No. 13 cheapest place to live in the nation.

Here's what U.S. News has to say about Cincinnati:

Although Cincinnati is often perceived as a sleepy Midwestern metro area, residents benefit from a wealth of amenities, including museums, professional sports teams and a wide selection of restaurants.

Families are drawn to Cincinnati for its excellent public and private schools, and its large number of Montessori schools. Plus, Fortune 500 companies bring in national and international talent.

But Cincinnati is hardly a place that's all work and no play. Locals love a good party, be it for the first day of baseball season or in honor of the city's German heritage. Even when the event calendar is empty, residents have plenty of ways to stay busy, from visiting an array of museums to noshing on the region's famous chili.

Boulder, Colorado is U.S. News' top city for the second year in a row.
