According to Cincinnati Public Schools, they have about 1,900 students whose families are experiencing homelessness. And to support them through the holidays, CPS' Project Connect will be hosting a toy drive.

They will be accepting new, unwrapped toys, books and clothing from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Woodward High School (7005 Reading Road).

CPS says the Project Connect team will be outside the school to accept the items in a COVID-safe manner.

"The pandemic has disproportionately impacted families living in poverty, perpetuating the issue of childhood homelessness in our community. We hope to make the holidays a little brighter for our Project Connect families and students, “said Rebeka Beach, Project Connect manager.

Project Connect was founded in 1996 and "provides advocacy, paired with specialized educational services and lifestyle enrichment opportunities, for children who have neither a voice, nor a choice, in being homeless."
