Cincinnati Storyteller Paul Strickland to Tell Tales at National Storytelling Festival

One of Cincinnati’s favorite storytellers will be spinning yarns at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee this October.

Paul Strickland, known for his award-winning performances at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, including Ain’t True & Uncle False and Balls of Yarns, is one of 20 national and international professional storytellers invited to perform at the festival, the largest and oldest storytelling festival in the U.S.

The National Storytelling Festival has been held in Tennessee’s oldest town every October since 1973. It draws thousands of visitors who come to hear tales from some of the best storytellers in the world and celebrate America’s rich and varied storytelling tradition.

The festival will be held in various tents throughout Jonesborough from Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 5-8. Performances are subject to change, but as of this writing, Strickland will be performing at these tents and times:

Friday:

11:30 a.m. Courthouse Tent
4 p.m. College Street Tent
8 p.m. Library Tent

Saturday:

1 p.m. Creekside Tent (“90 Lies an Hour”)
8 p.m. Mill Spring Park (Ghost Stories)

Sunday:

10 a.m. Courthouse Tent (Sacred Telling)
2:30 College Street Tent (Showcase)

Strickland is also one of the co-founders of the Cincinnati Storytelling Festival which has brought nationally-recognized storytellers to local audiences. The Cincinnati Storytelling Festival will return to Westwood Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 19-21 and feature national storytellers Antonio Rocha and Megan Hicks. Learn more here.
