The fifth-annual Cincinnati Wizard Pub Crawl is taking off, not from platform 9¾, but perhaps from a more magical place: a bar.
This Saturday, Oct.16, all wizards, witches and muggles are invited to "celebrate wizardry, drink potions and party all night long," says event producer Bar Crawl USA — aka get drunk in Harry Potter-themed costumes.
A $25 ticket will get you:
- Wizard wand and wand box
- Discounted themed drink specials ($3-$6)
- Potter livestream trivia
- Registration party to kick off the crawl
- House-colored wristband for sorting
- House certificate at after party
- Best dressed contest and prize
You'll be apparating to:
- Below Zero Lounge (registration takes place here from 2-5p.m.)
- Copper & Flame (3-6 p.m.)
- Revel OTR (4-8 p.m.)
- The Drinkery (5-9 p.m.)
- Mr. Pitiful's (7-10 p.m.)
- Pins/16-Bit (no time specified)
Copper & Flame will be "throwing down all day" (per their Instagram) with draft Butterbeer cocktails (cream soda, butterscotch and bourbon), Polyjuice Potion shots and Norbert's Fireball.
Once the party gets to Mr. Pitiful's, there will be $4 Gryffindor drinks made with rum, whipped vodka and cranberry juice, as well as $3 Yuengling drafts.
On the Facebook event page, other cocktail specials include $3 Dragon's Breath shots (apple and peppermint) at Below Zero Lounge; $5 Felix Felicis (sparkling wien, simple syrup, lemon juice and ginger beer) at Revel OTR; $5 Slytherin Lemonade shots at The Drinkery; and $10 Butterbeers at Pins.
On the Rhine Eatery inside the downtown Kroger will also be offering specials, including $4 Snape's Sangria, $5-$7 Dumbledore Dumplings and $5 Quidditch Korean Corndogs. Trivia will take place here at 4:20, 4:50 and 5:20 p.m. at Bar 1883.
Bar Crawl USA says you will need a ticket to participate, as some bars will only allow entry to crawlers during their time slots.
The event is not guided; each bar will have a sign letting participants know when to be there for the crawl.
Participants must be 21+ and have a valid I.D.
Check-in at Below Zero Lounge, 1120 Walnut St., Over-the-Rhine from 2-5 p.m.
