Crafty Supermarket is taking its shopping experience online for a two-day virtual maker market from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 22 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 23.
More than 50 vendors will be featured on the market's Facebook and Instagram, with each maker sharing unique experiences including live studio tours, demos and more.
“Crafty Supermarket has evolved so much over the last almost 10 years, it only makes sense to pivot to the virtual space as so many makers struggle through a season of canceled shows,” said organizer Chris Salley-Davis, referencing the fallout from the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Salley-Davis has partnered with the design team from Pop Rocket Creations — whose work will be featured at Crafty Supermarket — to help make the juried market happen. Other returning vendors include Happy Groundhog Studio, Southern Hospitality Labs, Paper Acorn, Off the Beaten Path, 86 & Norman and Tryst Studio. Find a full list of makers from across Ohio, Michigan and the Midwest, and start pre-shopping at craftysupermarket.com/makers-shop.
“Some of the same vendors apply every year and I always love meeting new makers who are just starting out," said Salley-Davis. "When Crafty Supermarket started, there wasn’t really anything like it. Now there are a lot of opportunities to support makers in our awesome city, but we stand out because we’ve become a brand people know. We hope this virtual show lets shoppers get to know makers on another level as they share their process and goods which customers may not get at busy in-person market.”
Crafty Supermarket launched in 2009 as a 20-vendor pop-up at the Northside Tavern before moving to the Clifton Cultural Arts Center in 2010 and then Music Hall in 2013.
The in-person market has been moved to July 11.
