Kings Island is gearing up for the 2023 season.

Spring is in the air, Cincinnati. And you know what else will soon fill the air? The sounds of roller coasters and joyful screaming after Kings Island opens its gates this April.

Crews are working hard to get the amusement park's grounds in tip-top shape ahead of the 2023 season's opening day on Saturday, April 15.

"Workers are busy cleaning the Royal Fountain, testing rides, painting, stocking shelves and more – all to get ready for guests who will be coming to the park to get their first rides of the season on The Beast and their first tastes of the park’s famous blue ice cream," Chad Showalter, Kings Island's communications director, says in a press release.

Expected to debut in 2023 is Adventure Port, a new tropical-rainforest-expedition-themed area between Coney Mall and Action Zone.

"Resting in the foothills of overgrown mountains and dense tropical terrain, Adventure Port is a hub for explorers searching for the ruins of an ancient civilization, its forbidden temple and mysterious wonders. If asked, the locals will tell tales of those who came before you and vanished. Did they unwittingly disturb ancient spirits and fall victim to an age-old curse?" writes the park on its website.

Adventure Port will feature two new family rides: Sol Spin, a Ferris wheel-esque ride that sends riders flying 60 feet through the air at 25 mph, and Cargo Loco, a barrel-spinning ride. You can also check out new shopping, dining and drinking options at The Mercado, or grab a quick bite at Enrique's. The park has not said when Adventure Port will be ready to open.
Kings Island will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on opening day. Daily admission starts at $39.99. Parkgoers can also buy a seasonal pass, which allows unlimited park visits and free parking, ranging in price from $109 to $350.
