Local non-profit Film Cincinnati recently announced production has started on a docu-series about the making of musical stage show "label-less", created and directed by Drew and Lea Lachey.

The docu-series, which the Lachey’s are making in partnership with Invent TV, Brave Berlin and TVACOM, will be filming during label less’ four performances at Camp Washington’s American Sign Museum, August 10-14.

"label-less" is described by Film Cincinnati in a press release as “a musical stage play that combines popular music, spoken word, moving visuals and powerful choreography. Led by a talented young cast, label-less tells their stories of love, compassion and how they defy the labels they have experienced in their lifetimes.”

The Lachey's teach dance and theater at Fairfax’s Lachey Arts program with art camps, workshops, private lessons and more. The concept for "label-less" came to them during a theater class exercise, where the students were invited to anonymously write out a way they’d experienced discrimination. The upcoming docu-series set to shoot in Cincinnati tracks how the show developed into what audiences will see at the upcoming performances.

With a cast comprised of 16-26 year-olds, "label-less" seeks to tackle “current social issues that this generation faces; everything from bullying to mental health to homophobia to racism,” per the release.

Kristen Schlotman, executive director of Film Cincinnati, says in the release: “We are over the moon to host such an extraordinary collaboration of talent in Cincinnati. Drew and Lea could film this production all over the world and their commitment and love for this city has never been more palpable.”
