Thrilling new VIP Animal Experiences are taking flight at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden beginning this week.
Starting Wednesday, the zoo will offer a Feathered Flight encounter, where trainers have worked with exotic birds from the Ameritas Wings of Wonder Bird Encounter to "demonstrate some of their amazing natural behaviors to a more intimate group."
Which, according to a video by the zoo, means that you watch (and maybe get a lil' feather-to-the-face action) as one of the birds whizzes above your head, back and forth between wooden pedestals.
“I got to test the experience and actually thought the rhinoceros hornbill was going to land on my head! It was thrilling,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard in a press release. “Don’t worry, the bird trainers have been working with the birds to make sure they fly close but not too close!”
Feathered Flights cost $25 per person and groups are limited to 10 per time slot. Experiences can be reserved at 11 a.m. and noon Wednesdays through Sundays.
According to the press release, more VIP Animal Experiences will be announced throughout the summer.
