Need a novel way to cool down after a run? Fifty West Brewing Co. is hosting a 5K around Over-the-Rhine this weekend that ends with a splash.

Fifty West's Pool Run takes place 6-10 p.m. Sept. 11 and leaves from — and ends at — Ziegler Park's pool. The race starts at 6:30 p.m. and runners cross the finish line, fully-clothed, directly into the pool.

“This idea came to me as I jumped into a cold shower immediately following an intense run. As soon as the water hit the top of my head all I could think of was how fun and invigorating it would feel to finish an actual race in a pool," says Fifty West Vice President Max Fram.

The brewery, which is hosting the event with support from 3CDC, Fleet Feet Cincinnati and RoadID, will have a photographer on hand to capture everyone's "best moves as they plunge into the water," says a release.

There will also be a swim-up bar, where runners can snag a free beer as part of their registration fee. Pizza arrives at 7:30 p.m. and an awards ceremony takes place at 8:30 p.m.

Runners must be 21 years or older to participate. Registration is $40 and available at fiftywestbrew.com.

Ziegler Park pool is located at 216 Woodward St., Over-the-Rhine.
