Is it really summer in Cincinnati without a neighborhood church festival? Mount Adams' Holy Cross-Immaculata is kicking off its annual street carnival with a mystery scavenger hunt through the hills of the 'hood before before a weekend's worth of food, live music and fun for the whole gang takes over the parish parking lot.

If you’re in it to win it, head to the air-conditioned casino room to escape the heat and play classic carnival games like big six, bottle ring toss, split the pot, bar and bells and crazy hats. Check out artwork and more at the silent auction and enter to win $10,000 in the main raffle.

With all that cash, you’ll be more than set for the Taste of HCI International Food Festival running as part of the event, with bite-sized cuisine from countries including Mexico, Italy and Germany.

And the fest's popular Biergarten with a View offers a panorama of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area from one of the best overlooks in the city, plus craft beer, domestics and wine. It's happy hour from 5:30-7 p.m. both nights.

Park in the Playhouse in the Park lot; shuttle service runs from the playhouse to the parish every half hour, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Aug. 3-4. Scavenger hunt 6-7:30 p.m. Friday; festival 5:30 p.m.- midnight Friday and Saturday. Free. Holy Cross Immaculata Catholic Church, 30 Guido St., Mount Adams. hciparish.org.
