Enjoy a beautiful array of holiday lights and give back to those in need this weekend at the St. Bernard Holiday Light Contest - Will Light for Food.
Organizers say on the Facebook event page that this contest was created to “bring the awesome community of St. Bernard together in the spirit of the holidays and in the shared interest of giving.”
Everyone is encouraged to head over to St. Bernard on Saturday, Dec. 4 starting at 6 p.m. to check out all the participating houses lit up in celebration. But don’t show up empty-handed: organizers are asking spectators to place canned goods at their favorite light display in the containers located outside of participating homes.
Organizers strongly encourage spectators to travel on foot to get the whole holiday experience, however, you can travel by vehicle. They are also offering a trolley service that boards outside of City Hall and runs from 6-9 p.m.
The first place winner will be announced at the end of the contest (8:30 p.m.) and all the canned goods will be taken to St. Clement’s Food Pantry.
16 homes have chosen to participate this year, a map has been posted on the event’s Facebook page.
