Hotel Covington is back in the spotlight for excellence after being named the eighth best hotel in the American South by Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards of 2019.
The top 20 list was based on votes by Condé Nast Traveler readers and also includes Southern cities in states like Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas and South Carolina.
The 114-room boutique hotel opened in 2016 in the historic former Coppin's Department Store, keeping some vintage flair mixed with new, chic updates. It's also home to Coppin's, the restaurant, known for its Southern-influenced, farm-to-table, nose-to-tail menu.
Hotel Covington also received some national love when it was named the No. 1 hotel in Kentucky by U.S. News & World Report last year.
Coming in at No. 1 on the Condé Nast Traveler list was 21c Museum Hotel Louisville and at No. 20 was The Ellis Hotel in Atlanta. Hotel Covington was flanked in the rankings by Nashville's Fairlane Hotel at No. 7 and Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, North Carolina at No. 9.
