The wait is finally over —Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is coming to Cincinnati.

The popular large-scale digital art experience will debut on June 1 at the former Gidding-Jenny department store, located at 18 W. Fourth St. in Downtown.

The historical building, constructed in 1860, will serve as a spacious backdrop to an immersive experience featuring more than 400 of Vincent van Gogh's drawings, sketches and paintings. Van Gogh's works of art will be displayed in digital projections that stretch from the floor to the ceiling of the former department store.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the continued renaissance of West Fourth Street and to be a  significant draw that will continue to bring art, culture and tourism back to downtown Cincinnati,” says Mario Iacampo, CEO and creative director of event producer Exhibition Hub, in a press release. “Cincinnati has  a vibrant arts community, and we look forward to sharing our award-winning Immersive  Experience with the city and the entire region.”

In addition to the digital projections of van Gogh's work, a separate virtual reality experience awaits in a separate gallery. The virtual reality experience will take visitors on a 10-minute journey on "a day in the life of the artist," allowing them to see the inspiration behind some of van Gogh's most famous works of art. Other studios and galleries, including a drawing studio, will give visitors an even more in-depth look at the artist.

John Zaller, the executive producer of Exhibition Hub, the curator involved in Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, also says that this new exhibit will bring more than 100 jobs to Cincinnati.

“As an Ohio native, who has spent a lot of time in Cincinnati, I am proud to be a part of bringing  Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience to the heart of the city,” Zaller says in a release. “In addition to delivering this world-class Experience, we are also creating more than 100 jobs in the city, including engaging local artists in the creation of  custom murals that guests can explore as a part of the experience.”

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience has already debuted in Columbus, Cleveland, and various cities around the world.
