Joe Burrow's BFF Tom Brady Apparently Has Un-Retired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Some decisions can be undone, it seems.

Former-turned-current NFL superstar and Joe Burrow fan Tom Brady revealed March 13 that he already was over his recent retirement and is rejoining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now," the quarterback posted to social media on Sunday.

Brady's post came Sunday evening, just a few hours after Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo asked Brady, "You're finished, right?" Brady simply paused and smiled.

Brady had announced his "retirement" on Feb. 1, meaning he'd been out of the game for only about 40 days.

"This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention," Brady said at the time.

The day before Brady shared his retirement plans — the first time, that is — the quarterback stayed mum on his decision as he talked with the Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow during an episode of the Let's Go! podcast.

During the episode, Brady chatted with Burrow about his own 10 Super Bowl experiences (nine of those with the New England Patriots), imploring the young quarterback to stay the course while leading the Bengals into the team's first Super Bowl berth since 1989.

Brady also complimented the way Burrow played the game and his fortitude when being taken down by injuries.

"I think (Joe has) some tools that I didn't quite have when I was his age. Super impressed by how he's kind of come into the league. … Two years into his career after a really tough injury last year, (he) showed a lot mental, physical toughness coming back and having an incredible season," Brady said during the show.

Burrow returned Brady's compliments, saying that he was inspired by Brady immediately soldiering on after taking a big hit during the 2001 season.

"You got up so fast, and I saw that and I was like, I want to be like that," Burrow said. "I just remember that vividly and trying to model myself after that."

Brady's Buccaneers and Burrow's Bengals will battle each other in the coming season, though the schedule has yet to be announced.

On Feb. 13, the Bengals lost 20-23 to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI, Cincinnati's first shot at the Vince Lombardi trophy since 1989. After earning a 10-7 regular-season record, winning the AFC North, and pulling out magical win after magical win in the post-season — including the AFC Championship — the Bengals were thwarted by sacks and a lack of consistency.

Shortly after the Super Bowl, the Bengals extended head coach Zac Taylor's contract through 2026, and bookies gave the Bengals higher odds for next season. And on Feb. 10, wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was named the 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Burrow earned Comeback Player of the Year during the NFL Honors awards show.

The Bengals have announced the team's opponents for the 2022-2023 season. The full calendar is expected in May.
